The owners of a bach in the fishing village of Kaiaua in Franklin reckon they have the right bait for prospective buyers - dropping their price by $100 a day.
The Trademe lister of the two-bedroom property in the Firth of Thames seaside town famous for its fish and chips and foodie festivals, is bravely dropping the price at a time when property values are rising.
Recent statistics from Quotable Value show the average house price rose $98 a day or nearly $700 a week over the past year.
But in areas such as Auckland's North Shore, prices surged even higher - to $289 a day, or $2,028 a week.
The 71sqm house on 1,171sqm land is described as "a fishing weekender, family bach at the beach or permanent living".
