KEY POINTS:
SYDNEY - Australia's severe drought would reduce wool production for 2006/07 by 9 per cent on the previous season, the Australian Wool Innovation Production Forecasting Committee said on Friday.
The committee cut its forecast to 421 million kilograms, a further reduction of 3 per cent, or 13 million kgs, on the last forecast in September.
The wool clip in the world's largest wool exporter would be affected by falling fleece weights, now forecast to drop to their lowest level in over 20 years, committee chairman David James said.
"For the first time in at least a decade, virtually all keyiner was forecast to increase, he said.
