Auckland Grammar School is seeking a further $1.7 million for its new $6.4 million classroom project where construction is well advanced.
A spokeswoman said building work was up to the final level three and due to be finished about February.
The project is a 12-classroom block with three teacher resource rooms and a tuck shop, built adjacent to the school's historic main block.
Watts & Hughes Construction is the main contractor on the project designed by Architectus and employing more than 30 subcontractors.
The Ministry of Education is funding about a third of the total building cost so the school has a $4 million fund-raising project under way, the biggest in its history.
