Businesses and retailers operating in Auckland are opening outlets at a new $20 million Queenstown centre, a property investment business says.
The Landing, near Queenstown International Airport, was developed by Di and Lindsay Williams' Savanna Group, a spokeswoman said, and successful Auckland retailers and businesses had now headed south to open new outlets.
Snap Fitness, The Artisan Bakery and Pizzeria, Organico, artificial flower, gift and furniture shop Everlasting Daisies, Neat Meat originally based in Ponsonby and health and vitamin business MySupps were at The Landing, she said.
Lyal Cocks, a councillor and Queenstown's deputy mayor, said the new shopping centre was a welcome addition to the area. But increased development had brought with it some issues, "particularly traffic congestion. There are a few traffic issues which need to be resolved in that area," he said, citing its proximity to the airport. "The airport is extending and there are more people coming through there," Cocks said.
The Landing spokeswoman said some of the business which had opened in Queenstown had an international presence.
