Andrew Fox has resigned from PPCS following a perceived conflict of interest over his election to Meat and Wool New Zealand's board earlier this year, the meat company announced today.
He has represented PPCS's North Canterbury ward for the past 10 years.
He said in a statement he rejected the perception there could be a conflict of interest.
"(I) am of the opinion that I could have managed this perceived conflict. But, to dispel any suggestions of a conflict and to avoid any future damage or criticism of PPCS, I have decided to pursue the Meat and Wool board directorship."
The vacancy created by Mr Fox's resignation will be discussed at the board's next meeting on June 29.
