MONTREAL - Alcan is reviewing a half-dozen projects aimed at expanding its primary aluminium production capacity.
Chief executive Dick Evans said that with aluminium prices at an 18-year high, Alcan was looking at expansion projects in Canada, Cameroon, China and Iceland, and at the Coega greenfield joint-venture in South Africa.
Alcan, the world's second-largest maker of primary aluminium, has previously outlined the projects, but surging aluminium prices have sparked renewed interest in the company's plans. Evans said the rising prices augured well for Alcan's profits this year.
