An Auckland real estate agent has been censured by the Real Estate Agents Authority after a complaint over the price of a house.
Ka (Daniel) Leung of Barfoot & Thompson supplied misleading information about the value of a property in an email, the authority said.
A complainant said he was living overseas and asked about buying a house Leung was marketing. The authority found the agent "gave a false impression of the property's valuation".
The dispute revolved around information from Waitakere City Council and the authority said Leung should be familiar with valuation information.
A complaints assessment committee investigated and said it did not appear to have been the agent's intention to deliberately mislead. But sending an email with false information breached rules of the Real Estate Agents Act, the authority ruled.
