Officially launched on Tuesday, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise is the Government's trade and economic development agency and arises from the merger of Trade New Zealand and Industry New Zealand.
It aims to improve the capability and international competitiveness of New Zealand businesses and provide market intelligence and market development services through its network of 48 offices at home and around the world.
It can offer individual businesses a range of services and assistance that includes advice, mentoring, training, investment help, market intelligence, market development and networking opportunities.
NZT&E is a sector-led organisation, focusing on a number of industries in which New Zealand has a sustainable, long-term competitive advantage.
Through its industry-sector approach, the agency seeks to identify and overcome systemic barriers to business growth - obstacles such as skills shortages or inadequate infrastructure.
Regional development and growth is an important focus for NZT&E. It runs programmes to support regions to take up opportunities for business and economic development.
The agency will apply itself to supporting local and regional leadership, regional strategies and strategic initiatives to increase the success of New Zealand's regions.
