A Napier book-keeper has been censured after making payments to himself from his client's account to cover the purchase of a vehicle.
Scott Nathan McCarthy came before his profession's disciplinary tribunal last week and admitted a charge of conduct unbecoming an accountant.
McCarthy, according to the tribunal's decision, paid himself $15,000 from his client's bank account to cover the purchase of a Hyundai.
This was done without the accountant getting the appropriate written authority from his client, whose identity was suppressed.
As well as this, the tribunal said McCarthy failed to identify and manage conflicts of interests between December 2014 and June last year
