KEY POINTS:
Healthcare provider Abano Healthcare has increased its audiology and dental networks, and said its performance had improved so far this year.
Abano's Bay Audiology increased its network to 39 branches nationwide, with two clinic acquisitions -- in Taranaki and one in Waikato - and two new clinics in Christchurch and Hastings.
The company's Lumino Dental has bought two clinics in New Plymouth, with settlement on March 30.
"Abano has made excellent progress in the first quarter of 2007 with improving operational performances and a number of new acquisitions and organic growth helping to strengthen returns," managing director Alan Clarke said.
"These acquisitions are consistent with our focus being in the private revenue segment of the healthcare and medical services market, and we believe there are numerous opportunities for Abano to expand as demand for private healthcare continues to escalate."
In January, Abano raised its annual profit forecast by up to 62 per cent, to up to $4.7 million, following better than expected trading during the Christmas/New Year period.
Abano shares were up 1 per cent, or 3c, at $2.85 in a slightly firmer market.
