Having a ball Auckland Town Hall was the place to be on Friday night as hundreds arrived for the annual Property Industry Charity Ball.
The black tie event was held to raise money for the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre, which is able to collect $4 in grants for every $1 raised - Friday's event raised $20,000.
Live band Off the Wall entertained guests and the Chinese theme saw red lanterns on the ceiling and fortune cookies on every table with a special performance from an oriental drumming group.
Guests danced away the evening before heading to Sweat Shop on Sale Street for the after party.
Tech time More than 150 business leaders from around New Zealand gathered last week to hear who had topped the Technology Investment Network's (TIN) list of fastest-growing companies - as well as enjoying a hearty debate on capital raising and new funding sources for companies.
The TIN100 report will be released on October 28, however TIN managing director Greg Shanahan gave a few insights into what could be expected, saying the tech sector was continuing to grow and recover, reaching a high since the GFC.
The latest bimonthly Business Excellence Network (BEN) breakfast event was held at Fairway Conference Centre in Wairau Valley on Wednesday morning with guest speaker TVNZ chief executive Kevin Kenrick addressing more than 170 business owners and managers.

Boutique property company Wilson + Hurst celebrated its expansion into real estate last week with a lavish party at the Sapphire Room in Ponsonby.
Guests including Alastair Acland, owner of Citta and BoConcept design stores, Chris Cherry from Workshop Clothing, Bob Dey, property authority, and Tim Wilson, property developer, mingled with industry leaders and the team from Wilson + Hurst.
Founder Finn Hurst spoke about the company's support for charity Eat My Lunch.
Chris Batchelor auctioned off luxury items, raising $3000 for the charity.
Hello Techie Tauranga Entrepreneur and businesswomen Diane Foreman is doing a good job of making headlines around New Zealand with her biography tour for In the Arena.
In Tauranga last week, Foreman described the town as a "new Silicon Valley" with a lot of Auckland business people selling up to move to the region, starting a hub of entrepreneurs.
