Finance Minister Michael Cullen in his third budget today announced a $2.288 billion surplus for the year to June 2003, well up on the previous forecast made in December of $1.823 billion.
He also announced that the surplus for the current year would also be far better than forecast -- $2.636 billion against the $985 million forecast in December.
