The New Zealand Herald has more than 200 journalists across the country, bringing you the stories that matter on our website and app, in print and across our social media platforms.
I was born and raised in Whanganui and I knew I wanted to work in writing and media ever since my grandmother gave me a VHS tape with an episode of Top Gear recorded onto it. After graduating as Dux from Whanganui City College I attended Massey University to get my Bachelor of Communications, majoring in Expressive Arts & Media Studies and minoring in Journalism. The path towards my degree turned rocky when I returned home due to the Covid-19 lockdowns but I soldiered on and after completing my degree and a year-long search for work I applied for the role of Multimedia Journalist at The Whanganui Chronicle. Being my first role of this nature it very much felt like jumping into the deep end, but having been here for more than a year I'm happy to say I didn't drown and I'll always be thankful the paper took a chance on me. You'll find me covering a little bit of everything, including business, events, education, emergencies and the arts. I've also found I enjoy writing opinion columns on what's currently on my mind. What I love most about this job is being able to meet and talk to the most interesting people in this region and using my stories to highlight less well-known issues and help those in need.
