While Shore`s total appeared to be a little underpar the visitors knew that the premier grade`s leading wicket taker Carl Brungar still had a big role to play and he was immediately in the game when they reply got underway dismissing Greg Johnson with the fourth ball of the innings.
Brungar's new ball partner Tim Duncraft also bagged an early wicket but a 50 run third wicket stand between Max O`Dowd (27) and Daniel Ter Braak (26) appeared to have the hosts coasting towards the target but the introduction of Matt Selby to the bowling attack would throw the game back into the balance again.
Selby dismissed both O'Dowd and Ter Braak before claiming the key scalps of Blake Douglas and Elliott Herd on his way to figures of 4/42 from his 10 overs. Selby's efforts had seen the hosts fall to 91/7 but Coel Mahoney and Jarrod Baker appeared to have resurrected the run chase when they took their side to within four runs of the target.
Once again Taka looked to have the game in their grasp but there would be one more twist as Baker (10) and Mahoney (21) were dismissed within three balls of each other.
Now the game was back in the balance again but Taka's bowling hero Jones held his nerve to strike the winning runs and seal a one wicket victory for his side.
North Shore 122 (M Olsen 33, M Jones 5/20) lost to Takapuna 123/9 (M Selby 4/42, C Brungar 3/16) by one wicket.
