Roads will be closed and parking restrictions put in place from today around the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Parnell for Sir Paul Reeves' state funeral tomorrow, Thursday August 18.
The funeral will commence at 11am, with parking restrictions and road closures allowing for the large numbers expected to pay their respects to the former governor general of New Zealand.
Motorists are advised to avoid the Parnell area and surrounding streets if at all possible.
Road closures and parking restrictions include:
Parking restrictions on Burleigh St, Eden Terrace from 6am, Wednesday, August 17 until 10pm, August 18.
Parking restrictions on Brighton Road, Parnell, Birdwood Cres, Parnell from 8am, Wednesday, August 17 until 2pm, August 18.
Road closure St Stephens Ave from Parnell Rd to Brighton Rd, Parnell from 8am to 2pm, Thursday, August 18.
Road closure Domain Drive from Titoki St to Parnell Rd from 9am to 11am Thursday, August 18.
Road closure Parnell Rd from Ayr St to St Stephens Ave intersection from 9am to 2pm, Thursday, August 18.
The funeral service starts at 11am at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Parnell.
The cortege will leave Holy Sepulchre Church on Burleigh St, Eden Terrace at 9.30am, turning right on to Khyber Pass Rd, then left on to Grafton Rd, right into Park Rd, left into Domain Drive and continue through the Domain to Parnell Rd.
The armed forces join the progression at Titoki St and slow marches to the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Parnell.
