The sounds and sights of New Zealand at war are being brought to life this week at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.
The northern facade has been lit up each night to mark Anzac Day, with newly discovered World War I footage projected on to the building.
This year, for the first time, the footage is being brought to life with a soundtrack commissioned for the occasion.
Illuminate 2014 is curated by acclaimed filmmaker Gaylene Preston and after opening on Tuesday will run again tonight from sunset until 10pm. Auckland Museum's Marty Jones said adding a soundtrack to the 23-minute display produced an amazing atmosphere.
"There's the sound of the troops marching, and chitter-chatter and the truck noises, that sort of stuff. It just makes such a big difference in terms of bringing it into a contemporary kind of light."
