Extra trains and buses are being scheduled in Auckland today as 50,000 people make their way to Big Day Out music festival.
Major delays are possible on the north western motorway (State Highway 16), with thousands heading to the festival at Western Springs by car.
Caroline Perry from road safety charity Brake said the safest and easiest way to get there will be on public transport.
"There are special event buses running to and from the CBD, and we would urge people to use the public transport that's on offer as well as possible."
Special free train and bus services will also operate for ticket-holders from locations around the city.
