English indie rock band Arctic Monkeys are playing at Vector Arena tonight - there are not many tickets left, from $99.95 at ticketmaster.
2014 NZ International Comedy Festival
If you fancy a giggle head along to one of the many acts on this weekend as part of the NZ International Comedy Festival.
Highlights include Birds of Paradise, a cabaret company serving up a unique, flamboyant and feathery feast weaving dance, drama, and comedy, at the Concert Chamber.
Other acts on include Sticks Stones and Broken Bones - a weird and wonderful shadow puppet adventure from Montreal where recycled household junk become flying chickens, brain transplants, racing horses and ninjas at breakneck speed.
American comedian Reginald D. Hunter, one of the UK Comedy industry's most distinctive performers performs as does local comedienne Rose Matafeo who continues her Pizza Party at the Basement.

Too many Chiefs
After a chance meeting in 2012 in a Paekakariki cafe, four singer/songwriter bandleaders hatched a cunning plan to join forces and present a show featuring their favourite original songs.
Working in slightly different genres, the Chiefs' repertoire blends elements of jazz, country, folk, blues and good old rock 'n' roll, and showcases some of the best songwriting New Zealand has to offer.

Romeo and Juliet
The Auckland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Peter Thomas, presents a free family concert playing music inspired by the writings of famous English playwright William Shakespeare.
Romeo and Juliet will feature young local virtuoso violinist Joella Pinto playing The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams, Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet, and music from West Side Story, the popular 20th century stage show based on the famous Shakespearean drama.
Auckland's oldest community orchestra will also play music from Mendelssohn's enchanting Midsummer Night's Dream and well-known theme music from Sir Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings.

All Fresco
The K Road Business Association presents All Fresco, showcasing a mix of 10 mural-based artists that work primarily in the public domain.
All Fresco is a four-day art festival where the public are invited to come and do a walking tour of pre-existing artworks as well as see new public artwork being made before their eyes.
The event will include street art, light installations, exhibitions and public art tours. All ages, all welcome.
