The dwarf allosaur may sound small, but 80 million years ago this flesheating beast ruled New Zealand. You can see this fearsome creature "live" on stage at Gondwana: Land of the Giants, at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. The performance takes guests on an awe-inspiring journey back through time, with spectacular puppets in a giant inflatable garden. Prehistoric creatures nest, feed and fight for survival, including the meganeura, the largest flying insect ever known, a male dryosaur caring for his young and the dwarf allosaur, 4m tall and 6m long.
Gondwana: Land of the Giants, Auckland Museum, until January 27. Bookings essential, ph 306 7098.
