It is hard to believe that young movie stars Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens are re-telling a story first told in 1740. The traditional fairy tale Beauty and the Beast has since been told many times over and this is the latest cinematic version of the story.
But youngsters watching it would have no idea they are watching something so old. A real contemporary take has been cast over this story to keep it fresh and alive.
High School Musical star Hudgens takes the role of Lindy, a pure young soul forced to care for her drunken loser of a father.
Pettyfer plays Kyle, a vain, soulless and superficial high-school star who can do no wrong. But Kyle is forced to take a hard look at himself when he gets on the wrong side of a witch and is reincarnated as a scarred and unappealing young man.
With no exterior beauty any longer, Kyle is forced to find beauty from within if he wants to escape his changed body.
