That "if" carries a large significance.
Veyron is the TAB's $2.60 favourite in Final Field betting and that will be justified if the track is against Guiseppina.
But if Guiseppina gets conditions to suit, the $4 the TAB had posted about her yesterday will be very generous.
Guiseppina could finish only fourth, beaten 2.8 lengths, behind Veyron in the Waikato Draught Sprint at Te Rapa last start, but that was after missing the start by four lengths.
"She came into season on the morning of that race and she was ratty," said co-trainer Steven Ramsay.
"James [McDonald] said she just wouldn't settle in the barriers and you saw the result.
"She won't have that problem this time."
Guiseppina is two from two at Otaki and it was exactly a year ago she made that stunning return to racing after nearly two years off to win a R70 event in the manner of a coming group one horse.
Ramsay said the high class mare will be scratched if the track is significantly rain-affected.
Veyron's trainer Linda Laing has a different problem - how her horse will cope with the trip to Otaki.
"He's never been further that Ellerslie in his career.
"How he handles it will be interesting. The travel itself will be a learning curve for him and how he does will be my learning curve."
Mufhasa has gone to Melbourne for tomorrow's Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, but the McKee stable will be represented by Eagle Mountain.
He has spent the past 12 months serving mares at Brighthill Farm in Cambridge, but was put back in work when his fertility dropped to low levels.
Eagle Mountain was one of the world's best horses three years ago.
His last raceday appearance was in Dubai two years ago.
