Canterbury Tactix were supposed to be playing Magic on their home turf next week, but now they need the support of Rotorua's home crowd and business community.
The netball game on Monday, March 7, was scheduled to take place in Christchurch, but has been relocated to Rotorua's Energy Events Centre at short notice.
Magic chief executive Sheryl Dawson told The Daily Post this was the first time the Canterbury team had been together since the February 22 earthquake and she wanted the local community to rally around and support them through attendance and event sponsorship.
"The game has been drawn together at short notice so the players in the Canterbury Tactix can continue their ANZ Championship campaign. Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic has offered its support by helping make this a home game away from home."
Dawson called on businesses to encourage their teams to attend by organising a group or giving tickets to staff. All seats cost $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger.
A percentage of gate sales will go to the Earthquake Fund and organisers are offering two free tickets with every set of 10 purchases to get a good crowd. There will also be a raffle to raise more money for the recovery and Dawson is keen to hear from any businesses able to offer support through sponsorship. Anybody able to help out is asked to contact her on (07) 571 0886.
The Tactix-Magic game starts at 7.40pm, with the Energy Events Centre doors opening from 6pm. Tickets are available at www.ticketdirect.co.nz, Hunting & Fishing Rotorua and the Rotorua Convention Centre.
