Rotorua's Julia Edward and rowing partner Louise Ayling have won a silver medal at the World Cup regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Lightweight double scullers Ayling and Edward, who set a world best time in their heat, were second all the way in their final behind Chinese Dongxiang Xu and Wenyi Huang.
The winning time of 7:04.14 was just .25s ahead of the New Zealanders.
It was the first international regatta together for the two, who have only teamed up fulltime for the last three months, and it is only the third world record held by a New Zealand crew.
The new pairing is clearly working and other crews will now be wary of the threat they pose at the London Olympics.
