Following unprecedented demand, NDuro events have made a further 200 spots available for the 2017 Craters Classic.
The initial allocation sold out six weeks ahead of the event and it has only been generous collaboration with land owners that has allowed for the expanded field.
"We're thrilled with the response," said race director Tim Farmer.
"There's a real demand for single lap cross-country style events, and the numbers highlight what we've known for some time. That the Craters of the Moon riding area provides some of the best trails you'll find anywhere for cross-country style riding.
"It's an ever evolving network, and we're constantly tweaking the course layouts to take in the best of it. The competitors really enjoy that, and it's testament to the hard work of
Bike Taupo, the Taupo Mountainbike Club, and everyone involved."
