In the other semifinal Ngongotaha will travel to Taupo to take on the Phoenix at Hickling Park. Taupo Phoenix coach Hopa Henry told the Rotorua Daily Post the mood at training had picked up in the last couple of weeks. "The guys are looking forward to the finals. We are in it to win," he said.
However, they will take on a Ngongotaha side brimming with confidence after a hard-fought win against Forestlands last weekend.
Player-coach Dominic James said although the team had struggled at times during the season to field a full team, now they were in the finals anything could happen and he was confident they had the ability to go all the way to the grand final.
The winner of the Pikiao-Pacific clash will go directly to the grand final in two weeks, while the loser will play off against the winner of the Ngongotaha-Taupo match.
