Auckland teams dominated the 39th annual United Indoor Hockey Tournament in Rotorua at the weekend. Played at the Rotorua Sportsdrome the seven-a-side tournament attracted 56 teams from all over the North Island, however it was a variety of Auckland teams who shone during the fast and furious 12 minute games by winning four of the six titles and finishing joint winners of the women's D grade with Tauranga side Mad Cows.
Palmerston North's Purple Cobras rounded out the placings after cleaning up the men's grade.
Rotorua, represented by two women's, two men's and three mixed teams, found the competition challenging.
Rotorua's Tri-hards made it to the semifinal of the mixed grade, the only local side to do so.
