A reader writes into the Daily Post about the state of Herewini St.

M Sainsbury, of Rotorua wrote:

Our council and mayor needs to drive up Herewini St and see the dirtiest street in Rotorua. Rubbish bags strewn over the road and footpath all put out days before collection date.

It's always the same loyal people who try and clean it up every time. It's gone on for years!

We have lots of tourists walking past and residents that shake their heads at what they see.

It is the dirtiest street in this city.

The Rotorua District Council responded with:

The council asks for residents' co-operation by not putting out rubbish bags ahead of the actual collection day. This is in line with a local bylaw requiring bags to be placed at kerbsides on collection day only. To ensure bags are collected they need to be out by 8am.
