Kaitao Middle School band Feedback recently competed in the Bay of Plenty Bandquest regional finals, nabbing three awards.

The standard of performances were high and Feedback performed an original song, Rescue Me, with lyrics by Bailey Crosbie and Holly Cash.

Dominic Pearson was responsible for providing the main ideas in the music and the other pupils, Caleb Leighton, Alan Ashley and Jordan Agee, added parts suitable for their instruments. The band was given the freedom to develop their own ideas and Dominic showed superb leadership in organising the group's practices.

The group received feedback from practising performers who were impressed with the originality of their song.

This competition was a great opportunity for the pupils to work in a professional environment with professional equipment. In the evening, we were supported by parents and the band did us proud.

We received awards for the Best Original Song, Best Original Lyrics and Caleb received the Rockstar Styles Award.

Bandquest is a national competition sponsored by The Rockshop for primary and intermediate school pupils.
