UPDATE:
Both the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter from Rotorua and the Taupo-based Greenlea rescue helicopters were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Broadlands Rd this morning.
Police at the scene closed the road for both helicopters to land.
The Rotorua helicopter transported a 54-year-old Taupo man to Rotorua Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.
Taupo's helicopter transported the woman to Waikato Hospital.
Senior Sergeant Fane Troy said early indications were the woman was not wearing a seatbelt.
"If she had of been she would not have been thrown from the car."
He said it was a timely reminder to always wear seatbelts "no matter how short the journey".
