A woman has been winched to safety after seriously injuring her arm on a rafting trip.
The Tauranga based Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a gorge south of Te Puke and west of Te Matai Rd this afternoon where a 31-year-old foreign national suffered the injury.
It is unknown how the woman became injured.
Ambulance personal were unable to reach the woman by foot so the helicopter used the Port of Tauranga rescue winch to lower a paramedic to tend to the patient.
She was then winched into the helicopter and flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.
