At 8.30pm yesterday the Tauranga based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was dispatched to Waihau Bay to pick up a 55-year-old Hicks Bay woman who was suffering a serious cardiac event.
The woman was transported by St John ambulance to Waihau Bay fire station to meet the rescue helicopter.
The woman was transported to Whakatane Hospital in a serious condition. The rescue helicopter was used because of the seriousness of the patients condition and the distance to hospital, the flight was completed using night vision equipment.
