Rotorua mayor Steve Chadwick is to welcome more than 100 of Waiariki Institute of Technology's (WIT) new international students at Rotorua Lakes Council's Civic Centre this week.
The event will take place in the Council Chamber on Thursday from 2pm to 3.30pm and will include a welcome and presentation by Mrs Chadwick, followed by afternoon tea and a photo opportunity for the students.
Mrs Chadwick said she was looking forward to welcoming the international students as they embarked on their new journey of learning and discovery.
"I'm really pleased these young people have chosen Rotorua to not only study, but to develop their English language skills by immersing themselves in our Kiwi culture.
"Rotorua provides a safe and friendly environment for international students to further their education and they make a significant contribution to our local economy.
