She said Waiariki Women's Refuge worked to support women and children to live safely from all forms of violence, as that was their fundamental right.
It delivered the service through a 24/7 crisis line, a secure temporary crisis safe house for women and children, advocacy, child advocacy support, and information 24 hours a day throughout the year.
"We support women to obtain legal advice and referrals, income, medical advice and support, and much more."
Coker said the money received would go towards upgrading the safe house playground area, and provide child-friendly equipment for children who access the safe house.
She encouraged people to head along to Lakeside because it was an event that brought communities together.
"It supports places such as us and provides a positive environment for children and whanau to experience things they may not have before.
"This year there are awesome speakers and musicians. It is an exciting time to get out of the house and have some fun."
Rotorua Lakeside trustee Sue Gunn said domestic violence was a major human rights issue across the world, and one of New Zealand's most serious social issues.
"One in three women in New Zealand will experience some form of abuse within their relationship, with many more coming dangerously close.
"We need to create a world safe from violence for women and children."
She said people could contribute by simply bringing along some gold coins, which will be collected at the beginning of the concert by members of Rotary Rotorua Sunrise and volunteers from Waiariki Women's Refuge.
They will go through the audience at 7.20pm with buckets and will be highly visible in their blue Rotary shirts.
"We encourage everyone to give generously."
On average and depending on the weather, Rotary Rotorua Sunrise had previously collected between $3000 to $11,000, she said.
Previous local recipients include Riding for the Disabled, Plunket Rotorua, Child Cancer, Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter, Mid Island Gym Sports and Neighbourhood Support.
A segment of the show will feature a slideshow showing the names, faces and dates of locals who had died.
Lakeside 2018 - Whenua #itsabouthome will feature entertainment, high impact visuals and spectacular fireworks.
The event will take place at the Village Green in Rotorua on Saturday, February 17.
Members of the public will be able to bring down a bottle of wine and drinks suitable for a family occasion, but excessive quantities of liquor will not be allowed.
