The easiest way to raise money for new mountain-bike trails, it seems, is to offer up some of the city's biking personalities for an undie run.
Rotorua Mountain Bike Club committee member Lisa Horlor co-ordinated the effort, which garnered $2000 in pledges in a couple of days. Last year she put her own hand up for the run, but due to injuries from a crash at Crankworx this time around she took a back seat.
Early yesterday her friend Jane Roberts, mountain bikers Marcello Ojerio, Alex Tague and James Alexander, stripped down to the bare minimum and completed several runs of the Challenge Roadside trail just after 7am.
The club is almost at its $7340 goal needed to rebuild the Exit Trail, which fell victim to recent logging.
"We never expected this much money to come in from this," Miss Horlor said.
