Two injured in State Highway 30 crash near Rotorua

Two people have been moderately injured after a crash on State Highway 30 in Horohoro south-west of Rotorua.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services were called to the two-car crash near Apirana Rd about 10.15am.

Fire and Emergency NZ had requested the road be closed.

A St John spokeswoman said ambulance crews were still on scene with two people who were moderately injured.

She said a helicopter was sent to the scene but was stood down.

A Rotorua Daily Post photographer at the scene said a single car had crashed into a ditch off the highway and was substantially damaged.

Earlier today two people were injured, one critically, in a crash on Tapapa Rd near State Highway 5 about 6.15am.

The critically injured person was flown to Waikato Hospital.
