Two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash at Hamurana about 2.30am yesterday.
Rotorua Fire Service senior station officer Colin Rolfe said the crash happened near the corner of Turner and Hamurana Rd, "The car was pretty much a wreck." No further information on the crash was available.
Two pedestrians have been killed after being hit by vehicles in Opotiki and Tokoroa. The two pedestrians were killed in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Tokoroa police were called to State Highway 1, just north of the township about 4am after a pedestrian was hit by a car. The person hit is believed to have died at the scene while two other people were injured in the crash. It was not clear whether those injured were with the pedestrian or in the vehicle.
Crash investigators were still at the scene late yesterday afternoon and the name of the deceased was still to be released.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man died in Opotiki just before 5am yesterday after being hit by a light truck on Waioeka Rd, about 6km west of the township. Sergeant Ray Wylie, the officer in charge of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Road Policing group, said the name of the man would not be released until next of kin had been notified.
The serious crash team was investigating the cause of the crash.
