Tūrangi has seen an influx of people come into the town for the school holidays and more visitors are expected this weekend with Anzac Day being celebrated on Monday.
Tūrangi Police Sergeant Te Reipa Morunga says the focus is on promoting safe driving and drivers can expect to see a high profile police presence on the roads in the week ahead.
"We are encouraging people to plan ahead and drive safely on your school holiday road trip.
"A safe trip on our roads depends on a number of factors that shouldn't be left to chance."
Planning your journey is key. Think about the time of day you are travelling, especially if you are unfamiliar with the route. If the journey is a long one, factor in breaks and sharing the driving.
