A man accused of shooting four police officers during at 22-hour siege at Onepu in the Eastern Bay of Plenty is due to stand trial.
The trial of Rhys Richard Ngahiwi Warren, 28, is set to start in the High Court at Hamilton today.
Warren allegedly barricaded himself in a house on Onepu Springs Road in March, 2016 after four officers responded to an Armed Offenders Squad callout and were shot.
He faces two counts of attempted murder and five counts of using a firearm against a law enforcement officer.
The trial has been scheduled to begin three days short of the first anniversary of the siege.
