It could take up to six months to rebuild TRG Imaging's Tutanekai St clinic following Sunday's fire, with its mammogram service to be moved to Taupo in the meantime.
Specialist fire investigator Bay of Plenty Coast Jon Rewi today confirmed the cause of the fire was a failure of a fluorescent light fitting.
TRG manager Debbie Cartwright said the business had increased ultrasound services at its Haupapa St clinic and was continuing to offer CT and MRI imaging there.
Mrs Cartwright said thanks to the support of Southern Cross Hospital, they had secured rooms there to provide X-ray services immediately, and quite soon, additional ultrasound services.
"Our mammography service will be temporarily relocated to our clinic in Taupo and in conjunction with the DHB, we will assist with patient transportation as required. We have use of the Breast Screen Mobile Bus and it is highly likely this service will be available for one week from Monday, May 15 and we will confirm this early next week."
