A Canadian tourist has been flown to hospital after breaking her ankle in the Tongariro National Park.
The Taupo-based Greenlea Rescue Helicopter was called to Blythe Hut in Tongariro National Park yesterday afternoon.
The tourist had fallen down a steep rocky slope and broken her ankle.
Because of the steep slope she was recovered using a rescue strop and then flown to Rotorua Hospital.
