Rotorua's Amanda Landers-Murphy has lost twice in the space of an hour in the opening rounds of doubles and mixed squash play at the Commonwealth Games today.

Landers-Murphy and Joelle King went down 11-10, 11-0 to Malaysia in their opening Pool A doubles match at the Oxenford Studios.

That was followed by a loss to England in her mixed doubles opening round match with Zac Millar, two sets to one. The Kiwi pair fought back and won the second game 11-10 before losing the third set 11-5.

To progress to the top 16 each pair needs to come first or second in pool play.

Landers-Murphy's next match is a mixed doubles pool match against Malta at 8pm tonight (NZT).
