Rotorua Girls' High School student Marina Tahana-Beazley has done it again - she has broken another school record.
The Year 12 student recently took part in the school's javelin event, throwing a distance of 31.70m, beating the senior (16 and over) record set by Louise Manners in 2000 who threw 31.35m.
"I felt heaps of joy, I felt proud that I did it again. I just had a lot of adrenalin and excitement."
Last year, Marina broke three records at the school's athletics day - all of which had stood for more than a decade. She knocked over the intermediate (under 16) shot put record set in 2004, the intermediate discus record set in 1993 and the intermediate javelin record set in 1978.
The school's physical education faculty head, Carolyn Katu, said Marina was the best athlete to come through the school since Olympians Sarah Cowley and Julia Edward.
