As Rotorua prepares to host the Bayleys National Sevens, coach Sir Gordon Tietjens will share some anecdotes about the game.

Sir Gordon will speak at a Rotary event on Friday, January 10, at the Rotorua Civic Theatre. The event is to raise funds for charity.

The national sevens tournament takes place on Saturday, January 11, and Sunday, January 12, at the Rotorua International Stadium.

Sir Gordon is best known for his success with the New Zealand sevens team in tournaments around the world - 10 World Series titles from 13 attempts.

That success has led to him featuring in the honours' lists as well as being inducted into the International Rugby Board's Hall of Fame. In 2010, New Zealand won gold at the Commonwealth Games.
