It's a big weekend for the bikes with hundreds of people heading to the city for the Nduro Mountain Bike competitions.
The action opens tomorrow with the cyclocross racing - a cross between mountain biking and road racing, which challenges competitors to race through hurdles, mud, and trees in a 2km dash for cash.
Race registration opens at 8am, the kids' race begins at 9.10am with the main race at 9.30am.
Armchair sports fans can take part in the fun too, as cyclocross is definitely one for the spectators, as you can see all the action, the thrills and spills of bikers doing battle, without moving from your spot. "We run this more as a community event and the Sala Street Reserve is the perfect place for it, as you can see the other side of the course from one place," said Nduro series organiser Tim Farmer.
On Sunday, it's a return to the old school with the second leg of the Nduro Winter series being held in Whakarewarewa Forest.
