The Warehouse Rotorua is giving back this festive season with food and products for the Rotorua Daily Post Christmas appeal.

This year's Christmas Appeal, run with the Rotorua Weekender and The Hits 97.5, is collecting non-perishable food and cash donations for the Salvation Army foodbank.

Team leader Tracey Dunbar said they were doing a team-driven food drive, so there was a basket upstairs into which members of their team could put food items.

They will be taking the items to the Salvation Army on December 8.

"We ask our customers to give back all the time and it's a nice way for our team to give back in what's a great community-based project."

Dunbar said this was the team's second year getting behind the appeal and they decided to do so again because it went so well last year, and it was a great way to help ensure everyone in the community had a great Christmas.

Warehouse Rotorua store manager Sally Rison said from a team's point of view it was encouraging they could help a number of people over this crazy festive season.

She said was good because it required just one or two items from home - "something so small can make such a difference".

The Warehouse Rotorua will be contributing to Fill the Bus, donating a bunch of products on the day.

Rison said they were also in process of setting up a bin for people to bring gifts in for Women's Refuge.

Alternatively, people could take a $10 toy donation card to the checkout and for each one The Warehouse would donate a $25 Mattel toy to Women's Refuge, she said.
