A 15-year-old girl has been airlifted to Rotorua Hospital with serious injuries after a water skiing accident on Lake Taupo this afternoon.
Emergency services were called at 4.35pm after the girl hurt her back.
St John Ambulance spokeswoman Hilary Morrish Allen told the Rotorua Daily Post the teenager was assessed as having status two injuries, meaning she had serious injuries.
She said while the injuries did not appear to be life threatening, they were being treated as serious because they involved her back.
The teenager was airlifted to Rotorua Hospital by the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter.
