A 15-year-old boy was airlifted to Whakatane Hospital late last night after suffering spinal injuries when he fell off a swing.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Te Kaha Medical Centre just before 11.30pm last night to meet a road ambulance that had the boy on board.
The teen had been on a swing when the rope broke causing him to fall and land on his back, a rescue helicopter spokesperson said.
He was flown to Whakatane Hospital for further assessment.
The flight was conducted under the use of Night Vision Goggles.
