A lucky lotto ticket has been bought in Taupo.

A winning second division ticket was sold at Paper Plus Taupo and pulled in $14,788 for a lucky punter in last night's draw.

Thirty Lotto players from around the country struck the second division with six players also winning Powerball, taking their total winnings to $20,126.

Meanwhile two small North Island communities are abuzz this morning as people start checking if they struck it rich in one of the country's largest lottery prizes.

The Lotto Powerball prize was split in half last night with the monster $38m prize shared between tickets sold in Greytown and Warkworth.
