A project to turn a Koutu dumping ground into a community reserve is tracking well and could be completed by the end of 2017, if all goes to plan.
The area, on the other side of the railway walkway in Koutu, has been an "eyesore" for years, being used as a dumping ground for household rubbish, old furniture and broken toys.
But Koutu resident Terry Phillips wanted to see that changed and started talks with Rotorua Lakes Council about ways to turn the area into a reserve the community could be proud of.
