Generosity was flowing freely as Rotorua students took part in raising money and awareness of the lack of quality drinking water in the Solomon Islands.
About 600 John Paul College students did laps around the school's oval yesterday carrying bottles, buckets and plastic pouches full of water as part of the Caritas Challenge - a nationwide activity carried out during Lent to encourage youth to walk in someone else's shoes.
The school raised more than $6000 to support the Solomon Islands, which faces daily challenges to provide its people vital services like water, housing, health and education.
The recipient was chosen before the devastating floods which hit the country last week.
John Paul College teacher and Caritas co-ordinator Veronica Aislabie said each form class walked around the oval in half-hour intervals.
